Trickle-Up Economics? Or Is It Trickle-Down?

Why is it that the Democrats and their pals are so quick to dis the “trickle-down economics” view when it is convenient, but switch gears in a moment to claim that if the “big three” auto companies go down, or if the financial institutions go bankrupt, it will affect all of the workers down the line?  Sounds like they think the effects will trickle-down?  They support “trickle-up economics” when they want to be viewed as anti big corporation and large corporate profits in order to be viewed as helping the “little guy.” 

Barack Obama is clearly a fan of the ‘trickle-up” idea regarding economic policy.  I am curious how he would explain the problem with the ski slopes in Durango Colorado?  Those rich skiers are just not showing up.  This is affecting all of those “little guy” employees that work for the ski resort; sounds like it’s trickling down to me.  It works the same way when you encourage prosperity.  As the rich get richer and start more businesses, those same rich people need to hire more employees to help them in their new businesses and projects.  Big businesses only hire the “little guy” during profitable times, not when they are being hit with tax increases, for example.  When the rich get richer the poor are better off and when the rich get poorer the poor are in big trouble!

Forget The Republicans, Let’s Start A Conservative Party!

If the Republicans want to run away from conservative principles, then let’s just let them go.  Conservatives are so tired of compromising Republicans who claim to be conservative, but they are clearly more moderate than ever.  Or maybe we can just convince them that they are on the wrong track and need to come back to reality and get back on our side!!  Moderation does not win conservative votes, McCain has proven that point.  McCain wasn’t on the side of conservatives from day one, so many conservative voters couldn’t see past the blatent dis.  Sarah Palin was his only hope, but it just wasn’t enough to win. 

We need to make sure our Republican politicians understand that conservative voters do not want them to compromise their values in order to “get along” and “reach across the aisle.”  We need someone who will go against the flow and stand up for conservative morals no matter what the costs.  Passion is what we need in a candidate!  Barack Obama had liberal passion, but there was not one on the Republican side who had this passion for conservatism.  It is still not clear who will stand in the gap for us, for there is clearly a large gap that needs to be filled.  Any suggestions anyone?

Do You Want Lower Healthcare Costs?

The best way to lower health care costs in this country is to tell the government to get their hands out of it and allow the free market to work.  One of the reasons that it is already so expensive in the first place is because the multitude of government mandates that have been forced upon the insurance companies.  One cannot say, I want coverage for this, but not for that, it is government forced bundling.  This is a bit frustrating because there are all kinds of rules and regulations against private companies regarding the bundling of products.  Everyone remembers Microsoft.  One of the issues with Microsoft was that they were bundling their Windows software with the sale of computers.  There are numerous federal laws against this, but these federal laws do not seem to apply to the government itself.  Regarding health insurance, it is a service.  It is a service offered by a privately owned business.  What right does the federal government have to tell a private business what they can and cannot do or what they can and cannot sell? 

There are so many regulations requiring insurance companies to cover this and cover that, and it’s no mystery to me why health insurance premiums are so high!!  Many states require insurance companies to cover birth control pills, abortion, smoking cessation programs, gastric by-pass surgery, breast reconstruction, and in some states, acupuncture!!??  What if I do not want acupuncture, gastric by-pass, breast reconstruction, or any of these other things??  What if I just want coverage for serious illnesses only and maybe a yearly checkup?  All of the mandates so lovingly forced upon us by our federal and local governments forces us to purchase coverage that we do not necessarily want or need!  It’s no wonder that premiums are out of the ball park!  If the government mandates were removed, the insurance companies would reorganize their insurance packages in order to get the maximum amount of producer surplus.  This means that they would offer different packages that would cater to different types of people with different needs at different costs.  This means that I could purchase a health care policy that only covered minimal illnesses or emergencies at a very reasonable cost if I wanted to.  And as one who does not currently have health insurance, I would certainly be interested in an insurance policy that allowed me to choose what kind of coverage I wanted.  I would probably begin paying for insurance tomorrow!! 

An extensive health-care policy is not for everyone.  Some people are more risk averse than others.  There are those who are willing to bear the additional risk in order to use their limited resources towards something else.  If a rational person is willing to take that risk, then they also understand that must bear the financial burden if things do not go their way.  This issue is not that they wouldn’t be treated, the issue is paying for the treatment.  Who is anyone to say that they can’t make that decision.   Forcing insurance providers to cover every condition under the sun is the very thing that is causing the number of uninsured to increase.  This is done in the name of “helping the poor.”  Poor people cannot afford to hedge the risk for every condition!  Trust me, the insurance companies would love to have the business of the less fortunate by offering them more conservative policies.  It is government bureaucracy, both Democrats and Republicans alike, that will not let this happen.  In fact, they want to add more bureaucracy!  Either they are stupid or they just don’t care.

How can this happen, you ask?  As much as our elected officials promise to be working in our best interest, their actions scream that they are not.  They think that American citizens are stupid and are unable to navigate this tough financial world without their help.  Isn’t it funny that it’s the Democrats that profess themselves to be the anti-big business, for the little guy, party; yet it’s those very Democrats that insist on bailing out those big businesses with the hard earned money of the American tax payer. 

Remember, it’s the free market that is always on the side of consumers.  Consumer demand is a main component of price determination in the market.  If you think health insurance costs are too high, it’s not due to consumer demand, or lack thereof, for we all agree demand is higher than ever, it’s due to the constraining mandates of our very own government!  Please just let free-market competition work!!!  Want lower health insurance costs?  In free market competition, the greater the demand, the lower the prices.

The Government “Bail-Out” Machine Is Out Of Control!

I woke up this morning in a cheerful mood, but that cheer was instantly dashed when my local news radio reported that the government has decided to “help” homeowners by lowering their mortgage payments.  Keep in mind that these homeowners have not even defaulted on their mortgage payments yet!!  What possible logical explanation do our lawmakers have for “bailing out” a part of society that doesn’t even need it!  I am still trying to stomach the government bail out of irresponsible corporations!  I say LET THEM GO DOWN!  And let the people who irresponsibly purchased homes they couldn’t afford to go down also!!  Renting is not the end of the world!!!  It seems that it is now the government’s goal to make everyone’s life easier??  At this point, who in their right mind would keep paying their mortgage?  I would certainly be tempted not to.  All you have to do is show a little hard times and voalla, help is on the way! 

The only possible conclusion to this type of action from the new American federal regime is that they want control of as much of society as they can.  The more they control, the easier is will be for them to implement a system that is based solely upon government control, Socialism, or worse, Communism.  We are already dangerously teetering on the edge of Marxism and people are just clueless!

Tell Me Your Opinion About Obama!!

Landslide Obama Win

Well, as we all know, Obama beat McCain’s socks off on election night.  How in the world did this even happen?  A man like Obama, who has had more questionable acquaintances than most of the corrupt people in government combined, a man who has ties to the Muslim religion through his family and acquaintances, a man who wants to make America equal with the rest of the world, and a man who has shamelessly promised to raise our taxes and share our wealth during a time of economic crisis!  What are people thinking??  Now, just to clarify, I am not against the majority of Muslims, but remember that our enemies in the Middle East are all Muslim!!  It seems that Mr. Obama could have a conflict of interest going on here.  During these times, we really need someone who would be tough on our enemies, not sympathetic towards them.

There are two reasons I think Obama won this election.  First of all, people were simply smitten by the young, good-looking man, and hypnotized by the liberal media to believe that he was going to save everyone from all of the problems in their lives.  They were so smitten that they ignored every word that he spoke except “hope” and “change” and “no more George Bush.”  Secondly, I believe John McCain was inconsistent and a luke-warm “conservative.”  McCain has always been quick to compromise and shun conservative principles in order “get along with” and “reach across the aisle” with the other side.  The only reason he had any hope at all was because of his Vice-Presidential pick, Sarah Palin.  If it wasn’t for Governor Palin, John McCain would have only won, maybe 20 electoral votes!  Conservative Republicans do not like compromisers.  We want someone to represent us that feels as strongly about conservative issues as we do, someone who is willing to fight like crazy to keep those issues alive!  Regarding working with the other side, they are never willing to compromise their views for us, so why should we compromise our views for them?  It should go both ways!  But since they are difficult and stubborn, we must also be difficult and stubborn!  Especially if we are going to uphold any conservative principles at all!

At this point, I have no faith in our new Commander in Chief.  He stands for everything that I am against and he is against everything that I stand for.  I believe he is very bad for this country and we will all suffer as a result.  Obama talks about hope?  I have “hope” too, you know.  My hope is that my assessment of Obama is completely wrong and that he ends up governing more towards the center.  I know that hope is a powerful thing, but hope can always be shattered by reality.  

Tomorrow We Find Out Who Will Be Our Next President

 

Well, tomorrow’s the day when American will find out the new path that this country will be taking for possibly the next 8 years.  In my opinion,  this election has been rigged from the beginning.  Obama has received no scrutiny from the liberal media, while McCain and Sarah Palin have practically received severe 3rd degree burns.  It is truly a mark of character that they are still fighting and still neck in neck with the media favorite, Obama.  I can only believe that Americans who are voting for Obama have either not taken the time to read about the issues or they are just too dumb to care.  How can one who is proud of being an American vote for someone who has no respect for what as made this country great?  That is, the U.S. Constitution and our commitment to individual freedoms.  Obama’s noncommitment to these ideals is literally frightening!!
