Since They Can’t Take Our Weapons…

11 01 2009

The liberals filling the seats of our Congress have been trying for some time to keep law-abiding citizens from acquiring weapons.  They do not seem to be concerned about a person’s need to protect themselves or their family against an attacker or a potentially dangerous situation.  They have implemented restriction after restriction and law after law, but fortunately for us, they have not been able to fully take our gun rights away as much as they would like to due to the 2nd amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  The 2nd amendment states:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

May I repeat…”the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”  This issue should not even be up for debate.  The problem lies with the liberals in Congress who feel the Constitution is a “living and breathing document” and simply too restrictive for modern-day society.  If they could, they would remove the 2nd amendment, as well as many others, from the Constitution all together.  For years, these liberals have been pushing their anti-gun agenda on the public by making it harder and harder for law-abiding citizens to get them, while the criminals have no problem acquiring weapons because they just buy them on the black market.  Our government is not technically forbidding legal weapon ownership, but they are doing everything they can to make it either very expensive or very inconvenient for a person to own a weapon, much less carry one.

Since the libs have not been able to axe the 2nd amendment, they have decided to focus on the ammunition.  What good is a weapon if you have no ammunition to put in it?  Ever heard of the Ammunition Accountability Act?  This bill will require all uncoded ammunition to be destroyed by July 1, 2011.  They will also implement a .05 cent tax on every round purchased from that point.  There are 18 states that have this legislation pending: AL, AZ, CA, CT, HA, IL, IN, KY, MD, MS, MO, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, TN, and WA, and NC is not far behind. All of these restrictions do not help “protect” the American citizen from harms, but only keeps them from being able to protect themselves against the government itself.   Consider this, if our government gets too powerful and restrictive, how could the citizens who reject this tyranny possibly become a “well-regulated Militia” and stand up to a power-bloated government if we do not have the weapons needed to back the cause for freedom?  It is legislation like this that makes me fearful of what the liberal democrats have in mind for us once they succeed in removing all weapons from society.  Be vigilant!  The democrats now have almost incontestable power.  They have the presidency and majority power in Congress and it will not be long until they have the Supreme Court as well.  If you live in one of the states trying to enact this legislation, contact your legislator and tell them you do not want them to vote no on the Ammunition Accountability Act!
